Possible logo

With this logo, I'd like it to convey the spirit of the building, nodding a head to the old style fonts used and an image of a cotton blossom.  I'm keeping the green that still subsides in the building, but a more updated version to modernize it a bit and give it a more fresh feel.
With this logo, I am hoping to give Pickett Cotton Mill a more branded feel while also staying true to its roots, so those that have a personal connection with the mill can still feel that connection without all being lost.

My reasoning to use the coral color is to compliment the green in a casual way that is subdued.  I researched fonts that were used in the 1930's, specifically because there was so much signage in that point in time, and those were the years when the Mill and mill-life was in full effect.  That is the reasoning for my font choices.

My Game Plan for Pickett Cotton Mill

Conceptual Haiku

As a start to the Pickett Cotton Mill Project, I've decided to keep the future at bay, while not forgetting to pay respect to the building's past.  Symbolically, this made me think of a pathway, which allows one to still move forward while having the option to look back.  This is what I want the mill to portray, I want new and old visitors to become knowledgable of the mill's past while still admiring the new additions and uses to the building.  This is the approach to the project I will take and continue to follow through my design process.
